Solid or Liquid Lotion that is a Question?

Solid or Liquid Lotion that is a Question?

Even living in perfumery and cosmetic paradise France, I am not a big fan of industrially made cosmetics and actually I have never been. Believe it or not, many French ladies know how to make their own natural cosmetics for daily use, probably except of some golden age lady who passes you on the street smelling like a whole perfume bottle is spilled on her. But there was also a time in my life when my bathroom, like many other bathrooms around the world, was full with shampoo bottles, hair conditioners, liquid bath soap, etc… and in my cosmetics shelf there were several bottles of different skin moisturizing lotions, for baby, for before and after tanning and creams for feet, for hands, for eyes, rich night cream, light day cream… you know, it just happens and then I realized I just threw them away time to time even if I only used less than half of the bottles.

Now I just have different natural soap bars in my shower that our family uses according to their own preferences, zinc pomade as first aid for any sudden appeared skin issues, and luxury 24K colloidal gold pomade for special occasions. Few small solid lotions also have found their place on my otherwise almost empty cosmetic shelf, mostly those who are in testing stage right now. I like to experiment and change the solid lotion bars that I use quite often, so my favorite size is small pieces in different pastel colors and light smell.

I started to make solid lotions some time ago, but at the beginning they were just a mix of different oils without any minerals in them. I found them very useful to protect my hands from frequent dishwashing and specially after soap making. When soap is made and I clean the soap mixing bowls, all tools still have a very high pH from lye water, which is extremely irritating to bare hands. So I found that solid lotion gives me a great protection and my hands do not dry out anymore. I also have found them useful for heels and elbows, especially in summer time, after swimming in salty Mediterranean Sea, skin can dry out very fast and you should take some action. As Liquid Plasma Crystals main alchemist Arvis Liepa has already made coconut oil with colloidal gold and silver for our skin pomades, we started to combine different oils with other essential minerals for solid lotion bars. Then we started our experiments with solid mineral lotions. It was just a playful try and a new way to use different mineral crystal particles for other skin care products. Skin is such a huge surface, but also very well protected from surrounded environment, which is why you should find a very gentle way to support it naturally.

What is a solid lotion?

We have received this question from few of our customers. Many of you have heard and have used liquid lotion filled in plastic bottle, but never have crossed your path with a solid lotion.

Let me explain it to you.

Lotion by definition is ''a liquid, usually aqueous or sometimes alcoholic preparation containing insoluble material in the form of a suspension or emulsion, intended for external application without rubbing, in such skin conditions as itching, infection, allergy, pain, or the like.'' according to

Wikipedia says: ''A lotion is a low-viscosity topical preparation intended for application to the skin. By contrast, creams and gels have higher viscosity, typically due to lower water content. Lotions are applied to external skin with bare hands, a brush, a clean cloth, or cotton wool.''

Seems lotion is known as preparation designed to be used to soothe dry skin for medicinal or cosmetic purposes. It has soothing, cleansing, or antiseptic action. Often they are formulated with ingredients that are intended to offer additional benefits to the skin in certain condition.

So what are the differences between liquid and solid lotions?

Liquid lotion is made of mostly water whipped with a little bit of Vaseline (petroleum jelly) - which can be used for almost forever - and alcohol as a solvent for some specific insoluble ingredients to make emulsion.

There are different types of lotion in the market: after shave lotion - nice smelling lotion for a man’s face after shaving, body lotion - used after bathing, hand lotion - used to soften dry hands, toiletry lotions for your intimate hygiene and toner which is a lotion with cleansing and astringent properties which contract skin pores. They are usually packaged in plastic bottles or jars, metal or plastic tubes, and you could use it for years before it starts to dry out. So far it is clear, anything that is made from petroleum has a very extended shelf life.

Solid lotions, sometimes also called hard lotions have very low or zero water content and they are composed mostly only from oils or butters. Solid lotion has long shelf life by nature as hard oils themselves provide preservatives.

Our solid lotion bars are made from natural amber yellow beeswax, organic shea butter and coconut oil. For some lotion formulas we had added plant infusion oils and all our lotion bars contain essential minerals, like zinc, copper, silver, gold or magnesium.

Minerals are known as an insoluble ingredient in lotions, but our original technology allows integrating these minerals directly into oils and to use these oils in our solid lotions, without any alcohol or water in them. All minerals added to lotions are prepared as plasma water in its initial state and than infused within the oils according to our original merging method that takes a lot of time, sometimes even few days. Our goal is to merge essential minerals with oils in its colloidal state in a very slow process as smaller particles increase surface of minerals that can interact with skin. We know it by many experiments that larger surface and smaller particles increase energy flow in skin cells.

Plants are our other ‘must have’ ingredients in many of our products. We often use plant infusion oils and essential oils to add beneficial plant properties to the skin care. We believe that cosmetics should have none to little smell that could only be sensed in a very close and intimate contact. You should not smell like perfumery shop, just let your natural libido unfold and bloom naturally.

Why we use these 3 oils  as our lotion base?

Naturally bright yellow beeswax we use in our solid lotions comes from organic bee farm in Latvia and it smells so tasty. Beeswax is a wonderful ingredient as it protects skin from loosing moisture and at the same time allows skin pores breath when applied to skin.  Beeswax improves skin health and appearance; helps treat acne, eczema, and several fungal infections that cause skin itching. It is rich of vitamin A, which makes it excellent skin rejuvenating agent. Beeswax can help a lot in getting rid of black spots on facial skin and improves blood circulation in skin cells. Beeswax has natural detoxifying properties that help remove toxins from skin, especially if you live in the city where protections of skin from environmental damage including cigarette smoke and traffic pollution are very actual.  Beeswax acts as a perfect tonic and reduces skin inflammation. Research shows that a beeswax mixture could help prevent fungi and bacteria from growing. Beeswax is good to use for softening the skin and smoothing out scars. If beeswax is used in lotions, it is also safe to use it for oily skin as it has powerful antibacterial and anti-fungal properties and it does not clog the pores. Beeswax has a two-way flow role - it helps keep water out, but it also helps to keep water in.

We love raw Shea butter from Ghana, because it is always made from wild growing trees and extracted by local women, whose experience has been passed by generation to generation in Ghana that places Shea butter in first place in the world by its quality. It has so many healing properties for several skin issues, including psoriasis and stretch marks. Shea butter is excellent moisturizing oil and protects skin like no other oil; it is the main reason why it is so widely used by local people in Ghana. Raw Shea butter is a great source of vitamins A and E, and the collagen has boosting properties to heal wounds and reduce the appearance of scars. Shea butter can help to reduce the formation of scar tissues in the first place.

Shea butter is a significant source of anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor promoting compounds. Shea butter also contains other interesting compound - cinnamic acid which is known for its antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. Shea butter also like beeswax does not clog skin pores which makes it an excellent topical treatment for eczema. It also can be successfully combined with eczema essential oils such as lavender or frankincense for best results. Shea butter helps smooth the skin and keep it hydrated naturally. Shea butter can also help boost collagen production and prevent stretch mark appearance by increasing skin elasticity and help smooth aging wrinkles. Shea butter can help reduce the formation of scar tissue or skin damages caused by environmental factors like pollution, sun and extreme temperatures. Shea butter helps heal dry cracked heels, roughness of elbows and hands.  Shea butter also protects against UV radiation that can cause skin cancer and also is great to use as after-sun treatment to provide needed relief.

Shea butter has multiple benefits for hair too, and our lotions are good to use directly in hair, beard and mustache. It is good for dry scalp which helps moisturize it and even helps finish your battle with dandruffs.

Coconut oil is great oil to mix with infusion oils, other ingredients and even water. Coconut oil has great cleansing properties and it is one of the very well known oils that applied directly on skin has several benefits. Coconut oil just like beeswax and Shea butter is great oil, which has antimicrobial properties that can help protect against harmful microorganisms.

As we know many types of skin infections, including acne, cellulitis, folliculitis and athlete's foot, are caused by bacteria or fungi.

Coconut oil has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and could decrease oxidative stress of skin cells. Interesting to know that coconut also is tested as a relief of ear pain when few drops of it is applied.

Coconut contain significant amount of lauric and capric acids, which are proven effective to prevent acne by killing off bacteria. It also helps treat eczema, a skin condition characterized by scaly, itchy rashes. Combined with Beeswax and Shea butter it is safe to use also for oily or highly sensitive skin.

All three of these oils contain certain fatty acids that give natural preservation properties and extended shelf life for solid lotions.

For our plant infusions most popular are olive oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, or other skin beneficial oil, like sea buckthorn oil.

How to use it after unwrapping?

There are many curios stories about the use of solid lotions in one family. If you think about using solid lotion for the whole family, you need to consider that somebody uses lotion for armpits, somebody for hands or heels, and somebody for lips. So to avoid “the WHEEEE” reaction because of using the same lotion by everyone and for every part of your bodies, everyone should have their own to use. That is the reason why we make small lotion bars that are around 20gr to allow each of your family member use it personally without sharing with others. Because of its small size, it is easy to carry with you in small cosmetic jar or trinket box made from wood, glass, metal or plastic.

Next up a quite often question asked by our customers is: ‘Ok, so far it is clear, but how to use it? I never used or have even seen a solid lotion.’

Solid lotion is solid in shape at room temperature and can keep its shape even in hot summer days. We had tested them in hot sunny days in our home at French Riviera and we can advise to keep them away from direct sun light or temperature that exceeds +25-27°C. Oils used in lotion will melt naturally directly on warm skin after shower or bath, or even in your hands when lightly rubbed on skin.

I already hear you say, “Wow, it really sounds easy to use!” :)

As our lotions are made only from oils without water or alcohol, they are also great for hair care and can be applied to take care of dry and fragile hair. Some formulas also use infused plant extracts which have hair care benefits. Such ingredients hydrate the hair while providing a more natural look compared to other styling products. When solid lotion is applied directly on skin, it covers the whole skin evenly with a very thin layer and insures best absorption of active compounds on large surface. You can feel a little energetic effect by mineral plasma on skin for a while as all our products are finished with harmonic solfeggio frequencies. It triggers molecular coherence in your skin cells to amplify the natural self healing potential of your body.

In development for several years we have gain experience in new green technology and like nothing stops in the universe we haven't either.

So we are started to make soap and other natural skincare products using plant plasma extracts and mineral  crystal particles (MCP) at their colloidal state and have blessed with new discoveries in our work that is crystalized in plasma power skin care products.

We use slow process extraction methods than does not make whole process very cost-effective, but result is more concentrated extract from plants and its valuable elements. We use plasmatic environment in soap curing time, which could take from few weeks to even 3 years to form desirable soap crystals depending from method and ingredients used in the saponification process. We believe soap should feel happy to deliver its best properties to our customers, including the most valuable to keep material spirit preservation in liquid plasmatic form with certain fields and frequencies. We are happy to share with you this progress and grateful for every single support from you to our scientific research.Your purchases are donations and research contribution for to ''Liquid Plasma Crystals'' research and experiments in natural supplement extraction methods and new approach of use of nature-based plasma energies in the modern world of nanotechnologies. Our aim is to develop technologies as greenest possible, fewer chemicals and with little energy in use to find best solutions for the future humanity of our dear planet Earth.
